One of our original brews. This red ale is slightly hoppy and brewed with Cascade and Centennial hops.

Slightly hoppy red! Kinda sweet maltyness...drinkable. Wouldn't seek, but wouldn't turn one down either!

Reddish brown appearance with an average size, off white head and decent lacing. Muted aroma of caramel malts and a hint of floral hops. Mellow, earthy, sweetish flavors with the hop profile developing more in the aftertaste. Medium bodied, nicely carbonated mouthfeel with a short lived finish.

This is one of my favorite of Aviator's year-round production choices. Normally, I find red ales a bit insipid, but Wide Open Red (formerly Hot Rod Red) is a very good exception.

Dry and malty. Flavor profile isn’t complex but still good.

Aviator does produce some good beers. This one was good but could have been better.
L: Pours a reddish light brown color with a full inch of light tan head. Strong lacing after dissipation.
S: Toasted bread, nuts, and caramel but not much of a rye spice element that I was looking for.
T: Mild piney hops, slightly roasted barley, caramel, and earthy hops. The issue is that the blend for me was not well executed.
F: Medium body, medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the fuller side.
O: Not a bad choice for red rans looking to try something new. Not a beer I would seek out over other reds.

Poured into a Double Barley can-shaped glass. No freshness date.
A- Pours a reddish light brown color with a full inch of light tan head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of surface foam, Resilient lacing leaves a broken ring behind and there are particles of sediment suspended in the body.
S- Lots of crystal malt here with a bready overtone and an almost rye-like spice but I think that's just because I'm used to a lot of red ales being made with rye. A tad sweet.
T- Taste follows the aroma with a big dose of malty, toasty dark bread flavor. Slight caramel sweetness and a hint of nuttiness. The hops are mild but there to provide some balancing bitterness.
M- A bit of sharpness from the hops with medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the fuller side.
O- The folks at Aviator certainly know what they're doing since I haven't had a beer from them yet that I didn't enjoy. This is as solid of a red ale as they come.

Pours a deep amber color out of the can with a smooth, thick head. Smells sweet with hops and a hint of honey. One of the better tasting reds I've had recently. It has a bit more hoppy finish than the usual but very drinkable and refreshing. By far the best beer I've tried from Aviator.

The beer comes in a crimson color.
The aroma offers some caramel sweet malts.
The flavor follows with some light malty sweetness, light hop bitterness, piney hops along with lingering lingering grassy bitterness that lingers. A decent balance with a light drinking malt forward beer with a light hop bitterness.

Enjoyed from the 12 oz can in a pint glass via a friend from work----Thanks BRYAN!
This nice red ale pours a clear light brown with red highlights, a very nice head of off white foam that settles to a thick ring, rocky layer, and very nice lacing. Nose of roasted nutty malts, of touch of light herbal hops, caramel, and some light grains. Flavors follow the nose with sweet caramel and grains mixed with nutty roasted notes on the middle, a moderate herbal hop kick on the back, and a moderately sweet finish with some grain notes on the aftertaste mixed with a touch of rye like spice. Crisp for the malt content, finishes moderately dry with very good carbonation that keeps it lively and crisp.
Nice for and American red.
Cheers

There is something seriously wrong with this beer. The aroma and taste are a stale maltiness, like the beer has gone bad. The appearance is good. Clear reddish amber color, big antique white head with good retention and lacing. Then comes the aroma and flavor, a slightly bitter, malty and stale aspect to both aroma and flavor. Mouthfeel is crisp and rich enough. It is just that this beer tastes and smells bad!!!! Got about 4 oz left. Looks like a drain pour to me.
