3 Bones Kölsch is preferred by pirates everywhere...it is smooth drinking while on the deck. This is an all-day beer that allows you to fire your cannons and hit your target and to keep you from falling out of the crow's nest. We brew with high quality barley and hops pillaged from the best fields. Cheers.

Sampled on draft at brewery in Fuquay-Varina.
Current pour from a 12 oz. can purchased at brewery. Slightly hazy; long lasting head.
This is one excellent example of this style!

From the can, it pours a lightly hazy yellow color with a modest head, soon reducing to a ring. In the nose, a scent of malt predominates. in the mouth, it has a slight bite and a malty finish.

This is my first can of The Aviator 3 bones kolsch style ale. If poured a nice yellow color with a fingers worth of nice white foam. It has a malty nose with bread and floral throughout. It tastes clean and crisp with a little bit of sweet. Overall, I believe I will have to try several more of this style. If this is any indication of what a kolsch taste like, I think I like it.

Poured from a can into a pint glass.
Appears yellow with a nice foamy head and light lacing.
Smells lightly bready, floral and fruity.
Taste follows the nose.
Mouth feel is medium for the style.
Overall, a nice Kolsch that I would definitely order again.

16oz can - haven't seen this brewery's wares around here since the infamous 2015 Advent calendar. Not their fault, of course.

This beer pours a clear, bright medium golden yellow colour, with two fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and mildly fizzy ecru head, which leaves some decent boiling cauldron profile lace around the glass as it quickly wafts away.

It smells of grainy and bready cereal malt, a bit of musty yeastiness, some apple and green grape fruity esters, and plain leafy, spicy, and herbal green hop bitters. The taste is grainy and crackery pale malt, a further generic toastiness, muddled pome fruit, further white wine lees notes, and more understated earthy, floral, and grassy hoppiness.

The carbonation is average in its palate-satiating frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and mostly smooth, with a wee airy creaminess arising as things warm up a tad around here. It finishes off-dry, the malt and fading frooty character sealing the lingering deal.

Overall - this comes across as a pleasant enough rendition of the (newly renamed) style, fairly crisp in its bearing, and more or less refreshing. Worth checking out if you want something to go with the fatty German meats that may be sizzling on your barbecue.

Very pretty clear pale gold with a fluffy/airy white head that lasts a while and leaves some lacing. Smell is very malty/sweet, and almost too much so. Not much to balance it. There is a bit more hoppiness to balance the taste out, but the sweetness definitely lingers. Still, mouthfeel is light and smooth...you could put back a lot of these, particularly given the 5.2 ABV.

Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a bright golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, crackers, a bit sweet. Taste is malts, floral hops, semi-dry, none of the sweetness detected in the aroma. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a refreshing beer on a hot summer night.
