Had on tap at Scion in DC.
Pours a hazy dark brown color, amber hues, with a wispy very light brown head.
Aroma is heavy bourbon and its sweet. Notes of vanilla and some spice come through, sweet smelling oak.
Taste is booze. The bourbon hits you right away, you get plenty of wood and vanilla in the flavors. Smoke, and it finishes with a sour note. Maybe slightly infected?
The mouthfeel is a bit thin, with a sweet oak finish.

On tap at Wine 101 in Wake Forest
A - dark brownish amber with a soft, thin, white lacing of foam
S - vanilla, bourbon, alcohol, faint spice, maybe some cinnamon
T - bourbon, vanilla, a hint of smoke in the finish, cinnamon, faint apples
M - medium bodied, warm, crisp, smooth
This is a really good barrel aged beer. This is significantly different than the original. The original is very smoky and earthy. This version is bourbon forward with only a hint of the smokiness from the original. They are different enough to be two different beers. I prefer them each for their merits, but this BBA version is impressive and very delicious. It's definitely worth your try if you can find it.
