I had this on draught at the brewery. Pint pour. It pours a bright, clear amber with a creamy, milk-white head and thick lacing that coated the glass through the entire pour. Because of its clarity you can really see the tiny bubbles ascending the glass. The nose features sweet malt and molasses, along with fairly faint grapefruit and lemon peel, and light floral hops. The first thing I taste is sweet malt along with discernible but subtle grapefruit and lemon. There's a strong hop presence that adds considerable bitterness but without a bite. The best attribute of this Ale is its feel: creamy, velvety with moderate carbonation. And while not exactly sessionable it drinks below its 6.5% ABV. Overall, this is a solid, malt-forward American IPA with enough bitterness to satisfy hop fanciers. It paired really well with a Cuban sandwich.
