A-Slightly hazy brownish copper with a thin off-white head that reduced to a thin ring and left some decent lace.
S-Bready, sweet malts and a bit of herbal hops. Not a lot going on with this one.
T-Malty, like I would expect and then ends with a light dry tartness. A bit of herbal hops in the background.
M-Medium-light body with a slightly dry finish.
D-A decent straight forward easy drinking mild. Certainly not bad, actually quite sessionable, but to me seems to lacking something that I cannot put my finger on.

On tap at Old Forge on 12/26/08.
A - Hazy copper-colored body with thin off-white head that reduced to a patchy film and left some modest lacing on the glass.
S - Aroma is a blend of mild hops, which impart some grassy and citrus notes, and bready and sweet caramel malts. Aromas is very similar to an English mild ale.
T - Nice balance of subtle grassy hop notes with a bit of floral and citrus combined with sweet caramel malt. Finishes with a mild hop character and a touch of bready malt.
M - Light to medium bodied with a syrupy texture and mild carbonation. Slightly dry finish with a subtle hop bite on the palate.
D - Overall, I found this to be a pleasant mild ale that is quite sessionable. This is a simple and straightforward brew that is well-balanced, making for a fine inaugural ale for Old Forge.

I picked this growler up yesterday (12/20/08) and thought that a veritable side-by-side of the tap and growler.
A: The ale is a turbid brown color, dark enough to render it opaque. At the narrower base of my mug, lighter orange-red colors emerge. The ale still throws off a decent-sized head, nearly two fingers, after 3 separate growler pours.
S: The nose is still excellent, loaded with caramel and toffee notes. There is no alcohol to be found and the hop body is nicely restrained.
T: Deliciously malty, the ale has toffee flavors up front. Bready biscuit follows the toffee. Hops break up the maltiness with light cirus bitterness before returning to the background. The finish is more toffee, mild but a little thin at times. The thinness is a trade-off for the quaffability.
M: The simplicity of the ale is what makes it work. Mild grains, little alcohol and soft hops all work together to create a great drink.
D: I polished off the growler over the course of an evening. The taste has held up quite well, even the last pour is amply carbonated. Too bad Old Forge is almost 2 hours away.
