Nitro delivery at Old Forge. The brew pours black in color with a rich mocha frothy cream head that holds throughout the entirw duration like only nitro can. When held to the light, it shows some brown clarity around the edges.
This brew displays a pleasantly roasty set of aromatics reminescent of cocoa. Some caramel with raw oaky notes are the main components you pick up on from the barrel aging.
The taste includes cocoa and coconut with caramel and roasty coffee. The is a fresh grainy chocolate inclusion which is a nice blend of oats and roast. The barrel presence here is quite noticeabl and at times almost dominating to the base but it isnt bad.
This is a light bodied brew that is super smooth. The combination of oats and nitro makes for an outstanding feel that is smooth but a little too light. The barrel aging here almost strips out some of the more desireably qualities of this style. This was an interesting choice to age in a barrel. Worth checking out.
