Growler into a tulip. The brew appears a clear mahogany color with a white cap. Beautiful lacing effect on the glass produces patchy and stringy patterns. A swirl revives a finger of yellowish stained khaki head.
The smell is toasty with a minor fruity accent. A bit of mineral aspect and fresh grainy sweetness round things out in the nose.
The taste is toasty like bread and rye. Some bitter herbal hops give a minor fruity character with hints of solvent alcohol. There is almost a nuget to medicinal aspect into the aftertaste.
This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. A decent brew slightly more focused on herbal bitter hops than rye but no complaints here.

First had: on tap at Old Forge
Dark copper color, with a small white head that retained as a ringlet. Toasted bread in the aroma, a bit grainy, a touch of resinous hops. Similar taste, pale malts, toasted rye, floral and resinous hops for balance, and a touch of peppery spice. Medium body, drinkable. Nothing too amazing or memorable, but a decent beer overall.
