I ordered this thinking it would be a more refined, complex saison but it's kind of bretty bitter citrusy mess a little more Belgian tripel than I expected.

On tap at the brewpub in the outskirts of San Antonio.
Hazy golden color with just a ring of head that still leaves some lacing.
Aroma: mildy funky yeast
Flavor: loaded with caramel and roasted grains, it also has a surprising chocolate tone.
Flavor: as claimed, this is "hopped ... with generous amounts of Amarillo, imparting grapefruit undertones to the pleasant spice and floral notes from traditional farmhouse yeast".
Feel: light-medium body and crisp, medium carbonation. Dry. finish.
O: a farmhouse IPA that complex but not challenging. "hopped ... with generous amounts of Amarillo, imparting grapefruit undertones to the pleasant spice and floral notes from traditional farmhouse yeast".

A summer saison, this pours a straw golden color with a characteristic musty, funky, estery aroma. There’s some spicing on the flavor that makes me think of chai—clove and ginger hints hiding in the back—with a pronounced bitterness midpoint. The floral notes emerge and change as it warms so give this some time to sip on. I enjoyed it.

A: A golden shade that has a bit of an orange tone to it.
S: Strong floral notes
T: An even stronger floral taste, with strong notes of rose water and orange rind. A little bit reminiscent of perfume.
M: Pleasant, highly carbonated, highly refreshing on a hot Texas summer.

Drank this one at Freetail Brewery on July 7th 2011.
A: Nice pale golden color, one finger head that dissipates quickly and exhibited some lacing.
S: Floral smells from this hop dominated Saison variety accompanied by citrus and a bit of spice.
T: Fairly typical taste at first that is quickly changed with the rush of flavors from this high hop variety. I like the addition to the style and really think it gave this beer character.
M: High carbonation as it should be!
O: Unique take on a true classic style, would definitely order again in the future

A: Pours a hazy golden/orange color. A two finger white head forms with good retention. As the foam recedes, light lace is left behind.
S: Big orange peal and zesty/tart lemon up front. Plenty herbal, grassy and floral hops. Earthy and spicy yeast. There is a light sweetness as well. An excellent and very fragrant nose.
T: Follows the nose. A big and bright hoppy character. Citrus, grassy, floral hops. Orange peal and tart lemon. Spicy yeast with an interesting peppermint flavor. A light sweetness. Again, this is just excellent.
M/D: A medium body that is perfectly crisp, dry, and refreshing. So easy to drink. I can drink this all day.
Just a wonderful beer. A really well made and excellent Saison with an American flair. One of my favorites from the brewpub. Highly recommended.

Had from the tap at the brewery on 5 Aug 2010.
This was a nice saison, but I thought a little heavy on the hops to be authentic. The beer was a pale gold, slightly cloudy and with a nice head. The aroma has nice malt and spicy Belgian yeast, as expected, but I found the American hop aroma distracting.
The flavor was nice, with peppery yeast and clean malt, but again submerged under the hops. This time the bitterness and grapefruit flavor were distracting.
This was clearly a Saison made to appeal to an American hop enthusiast. I prefer a more authentic take on the style, but this was a very well-made beer.
