Apparently this is the regular Freetail Ale (amber-ish ale) brewed with a saison yeast strain. Pours a mildly hazy light amber color with just a 1/2 finger creamy tan foam. A touch of lacing is evident.
Has some saison yeast esters in the nose, but overall they are pretty clean, I guess that is to be expected after having the rather clean tasting (and smelling) Primavera Prematura saison. The malts consist of mainly caramel and nutty notes with a few hints of honey, white pepper and graham crackers.
Hmmm, this could pass for a pumpkin/spiced ale as there are plenty of allspice, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg flavors. The yeast really does a number to this one in the taste and combines with a healthy dose of toasty and nutty specialty malts. Not sure the combination of everything that is going on really works for me though, seems a bit disjointed and combative. Still, gotta give Freetail much props for trying something like this and I had no problem finishing the pint.
