Big thanks to lnashsig for this one! Poured from a 64oz growler into my Dogfish Head shaped pint glass.

Clear sienna body with sinopia highlights. Frosty beige head doesn't build up to much, but refuses to go away. Fast running sandy lacing, no legs.

Toast malt, sweet caramel, grapefruit and evergreen in the nose - hops are rather forward for the style.

Bitter, almost tart citrus on the palate-entry, followed with raw almond and a touch of spice. Maybe a little oxidation (getting a hint of cardboard) in the finish along with wheat bread. Not bad, but much more hop-forward than usual for the style.

Decent carbonation, not-quite-medium-bodied mouthfeel.

One part too herbaceous/hoppy, one part slightly bland - despite these "faults," this is a decent beer...

On-tap at the HB660 rally at Austin Homebrew Supply.

Served in a plastic cup (hey, it's free beer!), this robust brown ale has a massive, fluffy tan head that brims with carbonation and coats the container. Body is a translucent chestnut brown. The aroma is on the lighter side of things, but I do pick up a hint of chocolate malts and a rich, earthy nuttiness. A nice floral/piny hop presence is also present.

The flavor is that of an extremely well-balanced, yet still very hoppy brown ale. 66 IBU's go a long way! Big notes of American hops (Cascade & Summit) throw pine and grapefruit juiciness at the palate, while the backbone of 2-row and chocolate malt add a nice earthy roast to the finish. Mouthfeel is crisp and medium-bodied; the juiciness keeps me wanting more. My overall impression? There were 5 beers on tap at this rally, and each patron was granted 2 tickets. I got this beer twice. Go figure...
