A: Pours a clear but dark amber/red color. At first a two finger beige head forms, and recedes in a minute. Not much lace to speak of.
S: Bready and biscuit malts. A zesty kind of spice, earthy, and peppery. A light funk, with some fruity aromas toward the end.
T: Like the nose I love the malt character here. Toasted malts, grains, bread and biscuit. A bit of spice, peppery, and earthy. Light fruity flavors. Really reminds me more of a Biere De Garde.
M/D: A medium body that is effervescent and crisp. A nice smoothness as well. Easy to drink. I could easily drink several at the bar.

An interesting take on a Farmhouse Ale. A pumpkin Saison. Well it reminds me more of a Biere De Garde with the malt character. I don't get a ton of pumpkin, except for a bit of spice, and maybe some light fruitiness at the end. Is it the best of the style, no, but still very enjoyable and interesting.

On draft at the Freetail brewpub.

Looks like an amber ale, minimal head but ok retention. A quick stir awakens the fizz, however.

Aroma is funky and enticing! Smells like a farmhouse ale of the Jolly Pumpkin style. Yeasty funk, citrus, earthy notes, more funk. By far the best part of this brew.

Taste lacks focus. It leans further into the amber pumpkin ale territory than saison. Too much pumpkin flavor here, too many Thanksgiving spices, and not enough funk to achieve the flavor profile they're going for. Feels like they got confused here, as the taste does not match the nose (or beer description) at all.

Thin, weak body needs improvement. I'm disappointed; Freetail can do much better.

This is a saison brewed with pumpkin. Another blending of styles and seasons that Freetail excels at!

This pours a ruby-amber color. There’s a funky aroma to it, slightly tart/sour, with a lot of the saison-yeasty esters that comes out. Tastes lightly spiced, with some noticeable pumpkin, while still retaining the saison elements. It doesn’t fit with the cold weather we’re having in San Antonio right now, since I typically associate saisons with the warmer months, but I didn’t mind in the least. Delicious! Try it while you can!
