Our English-style Brown Ale is dark brown in color, sweet and malty up front with a distinctive hop character in the finish. This beer is one of our best selling seasonal beers and is very popular with the locals. It was actually the very first beer to be brewed at the pub. It is named after a local happy hour customer who was the architect of the building when it was being renovated and turned into the brewpub. We will brew this beer at various times throughout the year.

On tap at the brewpub. I see the only two previous reviews are from 2006 and 2005 and based on their contents I have to believe the beer I drank was much improved in either recipe or execution or both. It turned out to be a very nice example of the style after all.
Typical appearance, rich brown body and a finger or so of off-white head that settles slowly. Some patchy lace clings to glass. Aroma has prominent chocolate and lightly toasted malt with a slightly nutty note. The flavor follows the nose fairly closely and is on the sweeter side for the style; bitter and milk chocolate combine with roast, caramel, bready, nutty malt and a semi-dry finish. Subtle, late emerging earthy hop note.
Medium bodied with somewhat crisp carbonation, but still pretty smooth. Certainly easy drinking. I found this to be a tasty, full-flavored brown ale with appealing sweetness. A pleasant surprise.

Growler from the brewpub
Pours a clear, deep mahogay brown with a nice tan head that takes awhile to dissapate. Aroma is malt, spiciness. Taste is malt, a touch odf sourness, not a bad thing. this is a decent drinkable beer. This growler was purchased from the fridge after the beer just went off line.

This is not the best product in the stable of the Lake Placid Pub and Brewery.
The Hi-lites for this brew are in its appearance with its slightly reddish tones against a ebony hue with a matching medium crown.
Lots of glass ring and minimum lace.
Carbonation was light and the body full.
Aroma was lightly sweet and malty, that of biscuit.
The taste was bland for a micro, almost that of a good macro...Slammed!! Sorry Lake Placid, but there it is.
