Brewery filled crowler - no date.
Purchased at the brewery last week during World University Games held in Lake Placid.
From the brewery website: "This Porter brewed to celebrate the Games is full-bodied and smooth, made with chocolate malt, 2 row crystal and American yeast."
Opaque but clear, dark brown, nearly black with a tall, tan head that slumps quickly but retains a ring and film to the last.
Aroma is rich and malty - big chocolate and brown sugar notes, some fig and charred fireplace.
The flavor is bold and also rich in dark malt character. Sweet malted cocoa with just enough hop bite and black grain dryness to balance the almost full bodied malt depth.
Remarkably robust in flavor and body for a 5% Porter.
The finish is clean and slightly chalky with lingering hints chocolate and black pepper.
