Ectoberfest is a traditional German-style lager brewed with German malt and hops. Brown in color, this lager is sweet and malty with very little bitterness. As with all lagers, this beer was fermented at cooler temperatures (50°F), and conditioned for over a month. The style of beer is called Oktoberfest, however, “Ecto”berfest is derived from Chris Ericson’s nickname “Ecto” (from back in his college hockey days). Oktoberfest beers are traditionally brewed in celebration of the fall season, and normally coincide with the German Oktoberfest Festivals which take place in early October.

Had on tap at brewery. Pours clear, gold in color with one quarter inch head. Taste is big toast and caramel. Light bodied, moderate carbonation, slightly sweet. Excellent and clean lager. Could drink all night.

Served and enjoyed in a pint glass at the brewery.
A: 1/4 finger head subsides into thin layer. Dark ruby-reddish brown. Very pretty and the head is what a lager typically offers.
S: Tad of rubbing alcohol hides behind caramelly and bready malt.
T: Sweet without being cloying. Quite tasty. Rich malt with no apparent hop bitterness.
M: Chewy/thickish. Smooth with no harshness.
D: High. Light in alcohol and very flavorful. A session beer.

Deep amber with a fairly thin white head.
A very fruity malt aroma - apples, pears, plums. The flavor remains on the fruit side of maltiness, with a caramel like sweetness in the background. A Hallertau sort of hop spiciness kicks in mid-sip along with a growing, controlled bitterness that really balances this bad boy out. Finishes with a lingering fruity-spicy-bitter balance that makes ya smack your lips and ask for another.
Sampled at the SUNY Plattsburgh Homecoming Festival, where LPPB had a sampling/sales tent set up. A large number of people were inquiring about their beers and, judging by the number of pints I saw being sold following the samples, it was going over VERY well. The only brewery there - not a macro in sight. Sweet.
