Purchased at Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska City, NE... an exciting find in the gift shop! Growlers of beer brewed and bottled by Spilker Ales in Cortland, NE. Growler reads on front: "Apple Brew" "Malt Beverage Brewed with Apple Juice"
On back it reads" This refreshing apple beverage is produced from our own sweet apple juice. Arbor Day Apple Brew is made up of several varieties harvested at peak ripeness and is a celebration of a long standing American brewing tradition."
So onto it:
Pours like a soda... sounds like a soda... and looks like a watered down Mt. Dew. Quick, larger bubbles... extra fizzy with little head and zero retention. No lacing... this seems more like a sparkling wine.
Aroma is pretty good. Apples, peachy... chardonnay characteristics. Tickles the nose.
Taste is apple. Sweet. Some slight malt. Definite Pear flavors. Little body. Sparkling apple wine, maybe. Dry.
A cool find. An exciting buy. I'll buy it again when in Nebraska City.
PS: Plant trees.
