As far as lagers go, this is an ok beer. It pours a very clear pale yellow with a thin white head. Nose was yeast and grain, corn, and maybe some mild clove spice. Taste was more of the same, but very mild. Mouthfeel is light, definately a lager. Overall a decent brew, lager-lovers will probably appreciate it more than I did.

We stopped into Spilker Ales on one of the few days that he opens up for retail sales just so we could try and buy some of the new Fogen Lager. Sam Spilker was there and showed us around and let us try some of his lager....and then we bought some to take home. This review is from a can. Pours light brown-straw colored, clear and fizzy. Smell has light malt, cloves, yeast, grassy tones in it. effervescent and fresh-smelling. Taste is very nice and quite different for a lager. Sam said he used two types of yeast and one of them at least is giving it a flavor profile not unlike a Tripel. Clovey and a bit of citrus. Fresh and tasty and a bit spicy. If it were actually a tripel, it would be thin, but its a lager so its just right. i like it a lot and i'm thinking of heading back in tomorrow for the last day of his retail hours for this month so i can buy another case.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
