this is a totally unique brew, far different from even the other watermelon beers ive had before. it pours a very average moderately hazy pale yellow borning color with a spotty white head only a few centimeters tell. the smell is watermelon rind, not the sweet fruit. its bitter and pickly in the smell, with light wheat malt underneath. the flavor is a bit more fruit than rind, but still a hint of that snappy crispness from the rind. its not sweet at all, and is in fact a little odd in the stomach because i dont eat a whole lot of watermelon rind and it tastes like that a lot. its a little filling in that way, but the carbonation is good and the body is light, so its pretty drinkable. all up i think this is a bold and innovative brew. i appreciate the use of the rind over the fruit, true to north indian cuisine, and i will drink this again. love the yak and yeti, and this one goes will with a lot of their spicy food.
