A: Pours an opaque yet clear very dark brown (approaching black) in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and significant amounts of garnet red highlights. The beer has a half finger tall foamy sudsy light tan head that reduces to a medium sized patch of thin film along with a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of chocolate malts and lighter amounts of roasted malts with just a hint of dark fruit.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of chocolate and roasted malts with light to moderate flavors of bittersweet chocolate. Light flavors of dark fruits (plum) towards the finish but without a lot of sweetness. Very light amounts of bitterness in the finish which fades relatively quickly.
M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.
O: I thought this was a really nice example of the style, quite tasty and with just enough body - and it is very drinkable with a pleasantly low ABV.

Super dark brown with a tan head. Malts that give off aromas of coffee, chocolate and earth dominate the nose. Taste adds dark and cuts the coffee down a bit, finish is mild. Body is medium, very smooth and drinkable, no sign of booze or hops here

on draft at Sams in Durham, shaker
opaque black, good sized white head. very malty with some nice chocolate notes on the nose. the taste is very flavorful. dark fruit and chocolate dominate the palate but very drinkable. lingering fruit on the back end with no bitterness. real easy drinking. body is heavier than expected for the ABV too, a definite plus.
overall I liked this one a lot. recommended!
