Even a second can make a difference between life and death. 6:45 to Raleigh rushed to deliver freshly picked hops to us so we can create our SMaSH fresh hop ale (that's Single Malt and Single Hop). We’ve selected Golden Promise malt and fresh Cascade hops to be showcased in this simple, yet flavorful beer.

A: Pours a very lightly hazy medium burnt orange in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and faint amber colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense sudsy foamy light beige head that slowly reduces to a large patch of medium thick film covering the entire surface of the beer with a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Slightly heavier than moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of caramel + doughy malts underneath slightly less than moderate aromas of floral + earthy hops.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of doughy + caramel malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of floral, earthy, and citrus/grapefruit rind hops which impart a light to moderate amount of bitterness which does not linger for long.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with slightly less than moderate amounts of carbonation. Initially crisp with a light softness in the finish.

O: Easy to drink and enjoyable but not a beer that is going to blow you away - a little heavier on the malts than I was expecting and the hop flavors were not as pronounced/defined as I had hoped.

A'Wet Hop Harvest Ale' per label on can.Pours into a nonic a dull brass-like color with a half finger slight off white head that settles into a soapy-like mass atop.Light fruity and floral hops mixed in with sweeter caramel notes in the nose.A 'softer' palate with mellow fruity hops with no bitterness detected,a slightly doughy biscuit malt base is just as big in the flavor profile. To me it's close to being in ESB range with such a big malt base,it would be a hoppy version of the style but it reminds me a little of it none the less.I like this beer, like many of the hop harvest beers the hops are not large and in charge.
