Growler shared by Brodie - thanks!

Pours a slightly hazy dark copper color with a one-finger white head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving solid lacing.

Smells of crisp caramel malts with hints of toastiness. Also present are mild amounts of leafy hops and mildera mounts of diacetyl as the beer warms.

Tastes very similar to how it smells. Moderately dry caramel malt flavors kick things off and are joined quickly by earthy hops. Midway through the sip the flavors smooth out just a bit with slight buttery flavors that carry through to a mildly bitter ending.

Mouthfeel is OK. It's got a nice thickness however the carbonation was a bit on the heavy side.

Drinkability is good. I finished my glass quickly and could have another.

Overall I thought this was a very well done ESB with just the right amounts of hops and diacetyl. Well worth a shot.

This was labeled as Old Baldy but I suspect it is the same beer. Caramel brown color with an oily head and good lace. Smells a little malty. Tastes like a bit of caramel, malt, and the slightest bit of bitterness, not bad but didn't wow me. Still, it was cool they are donating some of the proceeds.

(Tasted on my vacation to the south, on-tap at the Terminal Brewhouse. Tasting notes verbatim below.)

Appearance: Amber-orange, hazy. Head is foamy and leaves lacing.

Smell: Sweet, malty, hints of caramel, lots of grain.

Taste: Grainy, hints of barley and significant hop bite. Loads of sweet caramel.

Mouthfeel: Moderate thickness, heavy carbonation, significant hops.

Drinkability: Very good, a nice stiff ESB.

Appearance: Lightly hazy, medium brown body with a thin, wispy, white head.

Smell: Biscuit maltiness with faint notes of fruit, caramel, and spicy hops.

Taste: Biscuity malts with a light toastiness and a very light caramel sweetness. Minor hint of fruit. Spicy hop character with a medium amount of bitterness that lingers into the drying finish.

Mouthfeel: Just barely medium-bodied. Medium-low carbonation.

Drinkability: A decent, reasonably enjoyable ESB, but I'm eager to move on to the next Terminal brew, their Terminally Ale.
