Served on tap in a chalice glass
Appearance – The beer is served a very hazy yellow color with a billowy white head. The head fades slowly over time to leave a little bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass
Smell – The aroma of the brew is massive of a sour lemon and big vinegar smell with the mix of vinegar being of a balsamic mixed with some apple cidre vinegar. Along with these aromas comes notes of white pepper and peach tea as well as a little bit of grass and funk.
Taste – The taste begins with a quite potent sour flavor of apple cidre vinegar and green apples along with some flavors of a light fruit nature of apricot and pear and a bit of peach. As the taste advances the sourness increases a little bit all while the sweet seems to fade. While the sweet fades some pepper and oak as well as a decent hit of herbal and funk come to the tongue and leave one with a rather sour but slightly fruity and vinegary but pleasant taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is slightly on the higher side. For the style and the mix of quite sour, fruit, oak and funk the feel is rather nice, accentuating the oak and lighter spice, but keeping it nice and drinkable for the sour, fruit and funk tastes of the brew.
Overall – While I am not a huge sour fan this one is pretty tasty. Well worth a try if you get the chance.
