Served on tap in a snifter
Appearance - The beer is served a nearly pitch black color with a one finger head of tan foam. The head fades fast leaving a tiny bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell - The aroma of the brew is light overall, but has nice notes of bourbon barrel and some dark roasted malt. Along with these smells comes a little bit of char and toast.
Taste- The taste begins with a nice toasty taste with lots of dark roasted malt and a little bit of caramel and toast. There is a nice Bourbon flavor right from the start that gets stronger as the taste advances. Toward the end, the boozy bourbon and oak get stronger and with a bit of smoke and char, one is left with a nice warming, dark and toasty, non sweet, and robust taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel-The body of the brew is somewhat thicker and chewier with a carbonation level that is low. For the mix of flavors the feel is good and makes for a nice slow warming sipper.
Overall- A nice and warming brew with lots of flavor and a great, non-sweet and flavorful taste. Nice!!
