crisp and clean, a super nice example of the style and something i reckon they should get out there a little more, its a real nice addition next to some of the heavier stuff they have all over town, nice to see they really can do it all here. this is a lovely pint, frothy headed, pale but not watered down looking, and german enough in the right places while also keeping it very light. good clean mineral profile underneath it all, a subtle yeast expression here but the strain is right for the style, and a traditional malt base, pils-esque, with a light crackery complexion and a minimal body on it, lots of bubbles to keep it moving and refreshing, and just enough hops for this to be balanced, but the bitterness is well restrained and a nice little pop of citrus mixes in late, very well composed overall. obviously these guys have made a name for themselves with the scotch ale, and now its their hazy stuff that is taking off, but do not sleep on this kolsch, its excellent for summer and something i hope they keep in their lineup.
