Zula Stout is a rich, full flavored stout with hints of chocolate and coffee. Willamette flavoring hops adds an earthy aroma. We offer this one on Nitro as well, aka Slow Ride Stout.

Served a pint on tap at the brewery on our recent trip to Montana.
Very dark color, looked like Guinness, including the thick creamy head of tan foam that left a thin film of lace. Lots of smell you expect from a stout, roasted malts, coffee, cocoa, and some nuttiness too. Really enjoyed the taste. More complex than Guinness, with lots of rich flavours. Toasted nuts, coffee, chocolate, smoke all combined, yummy. Not quite velvety mouthfeel, but still creamy smooth. A very good all around stout.

11/08/04- Sampled at The Kettlehouse on tap.
*taken from notes in August 2004.
Appearance- Very nice Guiness-esque pour. Decent head with fair lacing. A dark brownish-black pour.
Smell- Lots of heavily burnt coffee and nut scents. Maybe a tad of chocolate thrown in.
Taste- A bit to dark for me, but not bad. Not chocolate enough for me. A little too burnt tasting.
Mouthfeel- Feels nice and creamy and very nice soft carbonation.
Drinkability- Not sure what the abv is but you can kinda taste it in the background. If it was a bit sweeter, it would get a really good rating from me. Even as is, it is a nice stout. I think it is just called "Kettlehouse Stout" now though.

This medium-plus bodied stout has a nice chocolate aroma and flavor which is complimented by the use of roasted malts. The head is nice and creamy and sticks around as kind of a desert when you get to the bottom of the glass.
