September 21st, 2015 - Hoppy and tart, the hop tart! But something weirder lurks within. Pepperoncini and salami mark the aroma, with banana peppers and a sudden appetite for those peppers that Papa John's put at the corners of their pizza boxes. The taste, also oddly, has the flavor of burning oil or fresh rubber. Thankfully this is rescued by some decent tartness and a punch of acidity, but the flavors here seem far off from what New Belgium intended.

This one is a unique flavor, not what you might expect. I was talked into buying one in a pick six pack. This is another one that is worth trying one at a sitting, no more. Interesting taste, not too tart and if you do not like hoppy beers, don't be scared off by the title.

Got in a growler and drank that day and the next.
Kind of a "futon" experience for me, meaning it was a hybrid and not as good as I wanted at either thing. Not a hopbomb of any kind, and not nearly as sour as I was hoping. Seems in the middle of two styles and not excelling at either.
Don't view this as a negative review - it's a good, drinkable, beer, but not as strongly rooted in either style as I might have liked, but it is what is purports to be - part hop, part sour.

On tap
Pours cloudy, yellow/orange with medium off white head.
Fruity aroma (pineapple, orage and pears) with mild floral and pine.
Moderate citrus tartness, mostly orange, balanced with mild malt sweetness and moderate hop bitterness.
Medium body with moderate carbonation and dry finish.
Overall a tasty, easy drinking summer beer. Tartness is well balanced.
