A blend of both our Brother David’s Double and Triple ales aged in port barrels with our house bacterial culture. This marriage of Belgian flavors with moderate sourness results in a beer that is very tart and fruity, with a sweet malty backbone.

-red-brown tap pour with minimal visible effervescence. Sweet malt in the nose. The flavor profile is complex with rich vinous lines, earthy oak and tobacco and a maple sugar-like sweetness. This is reported as retired so perhaps my glass is less sweet and less tart than some others enjoyed, but the brew has aged well and is a rich pleasure.

On tap at PreFunk.. Had this a couple times now... It is interesting that it comes out with a bigger sour twang... light phenolic notes show as clove with some background peppercorn.. light apple/pear esters combine with some residual pale maltiness... But the lactic sour punch hits home from the front to the back... Pretty boozy.. a gentle tulip is plenty. Grand Cru?? Would love to see this one in bottles. Pretty vinous with warmth... Very tasty, but a smaller glass is a thinker and a 22 would be too much.
