As the first brewery in America to have our own 18-hole disc golf course, it’s no secret we share a passion for brewing excellence and a love for the sport of disc golf. So, it was only a matter of time before we’d craft a beer to celebrate the two. Brewed with Chinook and Columbus then heavily dry-hopped with Citra and New Zealand Ekuanot, Hop Hyzer is juicy pale ale bursting with tropical fruit aromas and citrus flavors with a clean and mellow bitterness. And at only 4.9%, it’s the perfect beer to complement a casual round with friends or a weekly doubles match. Tee one up and you’ll see what we’re talking about…

Can from Brewer's Haven. Hazy golden pour with one finger fluffy head. Musty, malty aroma. Taste is subdued, light grains and hops, very sessionable and not that hoppy. Nice feel too

Bland wheat based APA.
a) Pours a dim, hazed, golden body but maintains a white head nicely.
s) Malt & Wheat first, then lemony hops and milky, yogurt back note.
t) Grainy first. Citrus lemon-lime, Yogurt creamsicle, cleans up bitter, but chalky in wrong way.
f) Finishes thin, dry and crisp.
o) Pass.

I tried this at the Daily Growler in Powell, OH. Poured a clear golden with thin head that did not leave much lace. The scent had hints of citrus peel. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with tropical fruit presence. The mouthefeel was lighter in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it was a decent beer.

$9.49 USD per sixer at Total Wine & More, Austin, TX.
"Ale." 4.9% ABV.
Hop profile isn't great...murky fruity notes and yogurty notes. Orange peel. Murky 2-row. Floral hop notes.
Has all the worst elements of old world Chinook & Columbus (stale floral character) and new world Ekuanot (out of place yogurty flavour). Citra gets lost in the mix. Wheat mucks up what would have been a straightforward 2-row malt backbone.
A drinkable but forgettable pale ale that mimics the worst of the current crop of Johnny come lately turbid IPAs. Not a beer I'd pay $10 a sixer for again, and I never thought I'd find myself saying that about a beer from Anderson Valley...easily the worst beer I've tried from them in the last few years.

Pours hazy, gold in color with one inch head. Taste is earthy hops and grapefruit peel. Light bodied, moderate carbonation and bitter. Makes for a slightly above average pale ale. Great can art though.

Definitely a earthy taste, a little malt. The most striking feature is the feal in the mouth--almost a little tangy. It would probably be better out of a tap. The taste lingers. Hops, earthy, and floral. But very basic. I see why it doesn't have over 4 stars, it's not much but I wouldn't say it's bad either.

12 ounce can - $2.29 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a golden body, dimmed a bit by a slight haze. Thinnish, though sustained near-white head.
Smell: Lightly grainy, a faint, thin touch of wheat, some predominately lemony hops with a whiff of diacetyl.
Taste: Grainy opening, with a soft, low breadiness and a bit of sweetness. Again, there's that buttery hint of diacetyl in the background. Citrusy accents of lemon-lime, supported by a bit of pine. Minimally bitter. Finishes a bit thin, reasonably dry and rather crisp.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium-plus carbonation.
Overall: Rather bland.

Pretty basic. Not bad, but not anything special either.
