The beer is brewed to be pleasingly tart and refreshing using a traditional kettle souring method, similar to our renowned and award-winning Gose series of beers. Tropical flavors are introduced in the fermentation process through the use of real guava and passion fruit. Finally, we found that leaving the beer hazy resulted in a more aromatic beer and added to the overall balance of the beverage.

The beer pours a nice white foamy head that dissipates very quickly while the beer itself is a mostly clear golden yellow that looks okay.
The smell is pretty nice. It has a moderate passionfruit and guava smell with a funky smell around it.
The taste is okay. It has very little of the passionfruit or guava smell from the smell. It does have a salty flavor to it and a bit of acidic grapefruit.
The feel is that it has a light body with tingling carbonation and an okay acidic feel to it.
Overall, a decent sour but forgettable.

Light gold in color. Somewhat splotchy healthy white head that dissipates to a froth. The passion fruit notes are
certainly there but not very intense. It certainly tastes like a gose with salty end and lactic tinge. A bit of coriander but not as much as a witbier. The guava is a bit harder to discern, particularly as both fruit flavors are either faded or just not prominent at all.
Overal it's decent, especially for fans of the style but nothing top tier.

Hazy pale orangey gold, with > 1 finger of quickly-dissipating white head.
Smells of guava , mango, and a vague citrus aroma, plus the fresh ocean breeze aroma (malt+ salt) typical of the style
Tastes of acetic sourness and a vague mango/guava/citrus blend , plus some noble hop-like spiciness that I assume is from the coriander.
Feel is light, slightly juicy, with moderate fine carbonation tingle.
Overall, nothing special stands out, and seems typical/generic for the type....which is fine. Enjoyable and refreshing on a hot summer night. :)

this is a fine example of the style, but maybe i am just not that into the style anymore, this feels thin, more fruity than beery, and sort of derivative, like everyone and their mother is doing one of these right now, and seemingly all with either passion fruit or guava or both. granted, this is objectively very good, better than most even, but why does hazy have to be part of it, this isnt ipa, its just a branding thing i guess, hazy as it is, i dont know, isnt most beer like this a little hazy? why bother calling it out? the guava and passion fruit are fresh and natural, its not too acidic and the lactic souring presents itself as very clean to me, so wins there. the body is light even though its hazy, i taste a little wheat, and the carbonation is booming, so thats good too. the fruit isnt overpowering, but the beer is so light it kind of seems that way, and as much as this is well executed, it leaves something to be desired too, maybe thats the style at large and not a critique of what anderson valley has done here, which probably shouldnt really be critiqued at all. i am ready for the next evolution, whatever it may be, these are losing their appeal fast, even in high summer. i have now had way more passion fruit and guava in beer this year than i have in fruit form, that has to say something negative about the state of things...
