The mother of all beer-flavored-beers:

A labor of love and passion it could have no other name than THE PILSNER, and it is the mother of all beer-flavored-beers. The Pilsner is soft, crisp, clean, and delicious and while extremely drinkable it is also flavorful and complex. How did we make such a delicious and nuanced beer so drinkable? Well, it’s not easy. It takes a lot of time, love, and attention to detail. So, if making an exceptional Pilsner is that difficult then why did we make one? Because we are really good at brewing great beer and we can do things like that. You’re welcome.

12 ounce can into willi becher glass, no can dating. Pours lightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fluffy white head with solid retention, light spotty lacing and streaming carbonation on the glass. Aromas of big apple/pear fruit, cracker, herbal, grass, peppercorn, pine. Too fruity of a nose. Taste is spot on: cracker, white bread dough, herbal, floral, grass, wood, peppercorn, pine, light yeast earthiness. Light-medium pine, woody, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light-medium body, and crisp/clean/refreshing finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky hop mouthfeel. Nearly bone dry finish with no lingering resins. A bit too yeasty in aromas, but taste is cleaner on lager flavors. Not a bad attempt at the style. Very enjoyable.

Can pour - pale yellow straw color with foamy white head leaving scattered lacing. Nose is grassy and light with hints of citrus.Taste follows with some crackery notes. Hoppy notes linger on the finish.

could have been the bar, but this came out flat and tired, unimpressive from a brewery that i still love. slightly starchy looking real pale blonde brew, straw toned with light haze and almost no head where i had it, is that the norm? some bubbles, but less than i want in the style. aroma is a little lemony, a little detergent thing going on, a slight must to it, a raw doughy thing too, nothing european about it, german, czech, or otherwise. it smells a little bit like apple juice too, sweet for a second, earthy, light tang, very little hops in play here but some light citrus, cheap and somehow incomplete to me, without any of the classic technical or chemical flaws jumping out. the flavor is a bit bland but also a little odd here, white bread, less of the obvious pils malt character i expect in the style, almost a little wheaty or something, definitely a raw vibe, starch and even protein to it while still feeling thin, lightly herbal, corny, and lacking the hop bitterness it needs for balance. something is off here, but its hard to place, hoping i got a line pour and that next time i try it, or if i can find the cans, that it will be significantly better, i expect so much more from these guys. perhaps i am being too harsh on this for a single draft pour, but its weirdly grainy, flat, undercooked, and did little for me overall despite me being keen for a pils at the time. will look to try this again as soon as i can and report back...

Good pour. Nice and foamy. A tad cloudy which is good. Light in color. Taste is dry, faint citrus. I'd say better taste, lighter that German Pils. Paid $15 for a six but I am in Pa. I miss the days after the wall came down when you could get German beers cheap.

Unreadable date code; drank 9/22 @ the Yarchives.

Cloudy pale yellow appearance.

A rough pour yielded a big, noisy bright white head; strong, frothy lacing remained.

Lemon, soft wheat & faint smoke notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Melon, dandelion & faint pine flavors.

Not flashy but quite tasty. I'd have another!

Illegible canning date, purchased from the dabc for about $2

Poured at fridge temp into a 'barley-half-a-step-above-an-Ikea-shaker' glass

Greeted with a tall and loose head that left some fleeting lacing and small island of a cap. Moderately cloudy bright yellow body with no visible rising carbo. 3.75

Big lemony hop aroma, with some fresh green grass. Smells clean and the lemon is wonderfully done. 4.25

Lemon follows, and is the most prominent, quickly accompanied by some crackery/biscuit malty goodness. 4

Lighter on the carbo side, not nearly the sharp bite I typically associate with pilsners, but it's very welcome here and works great for this beer. 4

Overall a very tasty and clean Pils that I could crush all day long, rain or shine, hot or cold. I don't think I've had another brew that does the bright fresh lemon as well as this one did. 4

Clear pale gold body wearing a large white head that left good lacing. Aroma of biscuits complimenting floral hops. Smooth, clean, slightly sweet flavor that accentuates the noble hops while maintaining a healthy grainy backbone. Medium bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel.

Pint at f/Stop Fitzgerald in Salem Oregon.
$6.00.
Pours the traditional clear gold, small white clingy head.
Aroma is bready malts and floral type hops.
Taste ..yeah it's a pilsner. Little Rock n the hoppy side but tasty.
Mouth feel not the best, but OK.

On tap at Moor Room in Buffalo, NY.

This one pours a very clear pale straw yellow, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like grassy and lemony hops, crisply crackery malt, some very light citrus, and a clean refreshing mineral character.

This is really great – it’s surprisingly the second really good new Anderson Valley beer that I’ve had recently. I’m glad they’re seemingly back on the scene! This is super crisp and refreshing, with a tight and smooth bitterness – minerally and floral, and slightly grassy, on top of a beautifully biscuity and crackery malt backbone.

This is light bodied and super clean, with a wonderful and enticing drinkability – the pint was gone almost immediately.

Definitely order this one if you ever see it – Anderson Valley has made one of my favorite pilsners in a while.
