Copenhagen 26/3 2021. 33 cl bottle from Beerdealer web-shop. Simple green label with loopy off-white letters and a little logo with a silhouette of a woman with a huge bottle.
Pours unclear, golden yellow with a big white head. Stable. Settles as 4 cm thick blanket of foam covering the surface of the beer. Massive lacing.
Aroma is moderately intense and somewhat dampened by the massive amount of foam. Sweet malty odor mingling with a yeasty touch. Sweet pale malts and grains. Light lemongrass. Damp cellar.
Medium strong carbonation. Thin, watery, lively and tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish and lingers for a bit. Finish is semi-dry.
Decent if somewhat generic Golden Ale.

De Decervecitas. En copa Teku. Jugando a The Last of Us. Belga con un ligero toque lupulado de perfil cítrico/herbal que le da interés y la hace algo más refrescante de lo habitual

How is it that when the big Belgian importers focus on the two coasts (particularly the Atlantic) and that I, a Chicagoan, get a copy and am the first reviewer.
Answer: The importers are 3 hours away in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Maybe that explains my luck.
that is what I said in 2017. With a second tasting in 2020, I've edited my review (not much) and upped my rating slightly.
This beer is a very pleasant find for three reasons.
First, Luppoo means "hoppy", but it really gets most its flavor from its yeast. (But, know that I favor ales who do not rely on hops to create flavor.) My corollary theory: hops are used properly to keep malt and yeast from creating dissonant flavors. I call it Balance.
Second, it always fun to find a brewer I never heard of... and, obviously, they do not get much distribution in these parts.
Third... like most Belgians, this ale is designed to go with food. And this was a fulfilling complement to a meal of leftovers... twice.
For non-hop-heads like me, this beer should be hunted down. If I find it again, I will have it again. (And I'm glad I did.)
There was so long a period between tastings (almost 3 years), that I now add to this review what I've been doing for just over two years... which is to give a quick review of the brewer. I like these guys... even with knowing not much about them. This was a well-crafted ale. Their distribution outlets seem to be mostly in Brabant (the Brussels metro)... except Binny's in Chicago where I got this and saw it often over three years. Belgoo has an interesting lineup of ales and I certainly would like to see more of them, particularly their saison. I would add Belgoo to my BBBL, (Belgian Brewer Bucket List) but the damn thing is already too lengthy... unless I were to take up residence in Brussels. Now there is a pleasant thought.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
