The only thing that clues the drinker in to the brewer of this beer is the address of Menabrea that's written in small letters on the back. Otherwise, you'd think that the rice giant, Scotti, had entered the brewing industry. The bottle further states that this beer is made with a minimum of 27% rice, added to malted barley. The beer itself is a standard and straightforward yellow color. The head is light and simple, but not very long lived. The aroma is perhaps the most interesting thing about the beer. It's a mix of musty hops, cereal, and rice. The rice quality of the smell is similar to white rice that's just beginning to cook. It's a starch-like, vegtable smell. The flavor has a similar rice quality, and the beer is quite dry. Not much in the way of hops in the taste. Fairly light in body. It's not a great beer, but it's an interesting and fun deviation. Worth a try, just for the experience.
