Ordered a pint of this at the brewpub on Friday (09-04-2009) around noon. Review written from notes.
Served in a frozen pint glass - bleh.
Appearance: Two fingers worth of dense, white, sticky head sat atop a clear golden body. I caught glimmers of apricot when I held this one to light. The head died to a creamy cap after a couple of minutes. Good lacing.
Smell: When cold, all I could get was tangy citrus. After the beer warmed, however, caramel and toasted malt appeared along with lots of sugary, fruit-like aromas. Smells like a lot of Cascade hops to me. Pretty standard.
Taste: Caramel malt and Cascade hops. Pine, orange, and malted barley. After reading the beer description, I was instantly able to pick out the salty Chinook hops as well. Each sip finished bitter and salty. Once again, pretty standard / nothing surprising.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied and well-balanced. Finished dry with a fairly potent aftertaste. Mild spiciness in the finish, too. A tad chewy. Carbonation was right where it should be.
Drinkability: A pretty plain pale ale, but solid nonetheless. I might order this again given the small selection at Western Pacific.

Pale Ale features a noticable Cascade hoppiness. Bitterness is a bit one-dimentional, but is firm. Hop aroma doesn't come across as well, letting the bready malts shine through. Only a bit of carmel malt.
Not very exciting but still enjoyable and fresh. Perhaps a good choice for the closet craft brew drinker.
