"This Flemish red beer with an alcohol percentage of 5 is an easy drinker with touches of caramel and senses of burnt chocolatearomas. Also with the addition of whiskymalt you can enjoy a nice and surprising afterglow. There’s a statue of the man on the label in Gullegem."

On tap at Max's today.
The beer pours an orange amber color with good head retention and lacing. Don't get a whole lot on the nose, but what I detect is nice, consisting of cherry, a hint of vanilla and honey. The flavor profile isn't sour at all (not that I'm complaining), with graham cracker cookie, a hint of caramel and chocolate, butterscotch and some light fruit (cherry again). Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a fairly long finish. Drinkability is good, with the alcohol well integrated into the flavor profile.
A solid enough beer, but I'm wondering about the sytle designation for this beer. I think the person who added this beer to the data base may have made a mistake, as it's listed as a scotch ale on the beer menu at Max's, and really taste like no flanders red I've ever tasted. Ratebeer also lists this as a scotch ale...

On tap the Palm Tavern.
It pours a nice dark brownish gold with a foamy off-white head.
The smell is sweet, but earthy, it has that classic scottish malt scent.
The taste is the real winner here, it has a subtle sweetness. It is very breadlike with an earthy hop backing that lingers into the aftertaste.
