473 mL can from the LCBO; best before Nov 14 2018 and served barely chilled. I've had this once in the past, but it took me a while to find another can for reviewing purposes.
Pours a clear, pale golden-yellow colour, crowned with one finger of loose, bubbly white head that fizzles itself out of existence within a minute or two. A few patches of lace are left in its wake, in addition to a soapy film and a modest-sized collar of frothy foam; looks fine. Fairly subtle on the nose, with lemon zest, grapefruit, floral hops and a hint of stone fruit coming through. Inoffensive...
...and that might just be the word of the day. Very light, mild flavours; there's some gritty, grainy pale malt sweetness in there, with dilute hop notes carrying the rest of the load. Citrusy elements such as lemon and grapefruit pith are noticeable early on, with mild resin and floral qualities coming to characterize the back end. Light in body, with middling carbonation levels that give this brew a slight bite; feels smooth in texture and is actually quite refreshing in spite of its watery flavour profile. Almost has sort of a 'hop tea' vibe, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
Final Grade: 3.56, a B grade. MacLean's Bent Spoke is a decent session IPA, but I don't think any greater compliments are forthcoming. This one was very easy to toss back quickly, but this is a light ale so mentioning that is borderline redundant. Truth be told, this is a boring beer, but it doesn't have any genuine faults, either. I'd probably take their regular IPA over this one - neither one is anything special (at least, compared to much of the competition in this province), but Bent Spoke is just more watery, less flavourful, and not much cheaper. Still worth the tick... who knows, if you're a big session ale fan then this might be just what you're looking for on a hot weekend afternoon after mowing the lawn.

Lemonade like, golden with a hazy hue. No visible carbonation or large head, but this may be because mine exploded in the freezer.
Smells candied pineapple, peaches, and overall really fruity.
Big bitterness on the front, much like a grapefruit. This is followed by all the fruity notes evident on the nose.
Light body, moderate carbonation.
Drinking this on Muskoka, Nov 30th, 2017. Decent brew, loving how low the ABV is, yet its maintaining lots of flavour.
