473 mL can from the LCBO; best before Dec 23 2022 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a crystal clear light golden colour, producing an inch of fluffy, soapy white head that lingers for the better part of five minutes. A frothy collar lives on, surrounding some filmy wisps on the surface; a modest smattering of lace is also deposited. Not a lot of effervescence. Grapefruit candy, specifically pink Jolly Rancher on the nose, with suggestions of grainy pale malts, doughiness and maybe a faint murmur of actual grapefruit juice.
It's plain, but inoffensive and undeniably thirst-quenching. Faint grapefruit candy tanginess right off the hop, followed by grainy pale malts and some (very light) grapefruit peel bitterness by mid-sip. Suggestions of grain husk at the finish, with light grapefruit peel/oil bitterness that quickly fades, leaving a clean aftertaste behind. Light in body, with moderately low, fine-bubbled carbonation that softly prickles the tongue, contributing to its smooth, refreshing mouthfeel. Effortlessly easy to toss back.
Final Grade: 3.43, a B-. One thing I'd suggest is that you don't go into MacLean's Grapefruit Lager expecting something radler-like: it isn't very juicy or sweet, and the grapefruit flavouring is clearly artificial - they mention this on the front label, but even if they hadn't bothered to do so, it's really quite obvious. That isn't inherently bad, but I just don't think it works very well here - you get the peel and candy, but none of that 'real' grapefruit juiciness, i.e. the aspect of the fruit that I really love. The underlying lager itself is nothing special, either. Worth a try if you enjoy citrusy light lagers, but probably safe to skip otherwise.

Pours clear gold in colour, large white head. Not hazy like most other grapefruit beers. Very light on the grapefruit flavour on the taste and smell, likely a good thing because it’s artificial flavour (says on the can). Grainy and slightly hoppy otherwise. Not a bad beer at all actually
