Served from a growler (from Super Deli Mart yesterday).
Appearance is a clear copper color, with not much head, but a nice bit of white lacing.
The smell is mostly of the whiskey, with a bit of vegetal pumpkin. The pumpkin shows up more prominently in the taste, along with plenty of whiskey, and a fair bit of caramel. In fact, it's not that far off from a scotch ale kind of malty, sweet, caramel concoction. Add in the bourbon and that's what you've got. The 11% ABV is not quite as noticeable as you might expect.
The body is surprisingly thin. I tend to expect more body in a beer like this.
Overall, it's quite a tasty brew. It's not in the same league as Dick Cantwell's greatest pumpkin beers, but it's certainly a worthy tribute to him.
