A - Hazy chestnut brown with tanish cream colors head. Head is uniform and recedes relatively quickly leaving a lasting ring and skim cap floating on top with sticky remnants clinging around the top of the glass.
S - Subtle but alluring evergreen and fruit notes with a hint of musk and smoke.
T - Showing appreciation for historical style, this is something of an Americanized tribute to the traditional British IPA. Hopped up to be sure, but not in the trendy manner of most west coast IPAs. A nice maltiness manages to break through up front married to the resinous hop bite. Toasty character with pine and citric notes and a light fruitiness bordering on tropical.
M - Moderate just leaning towards the light side, but with perfect carbonation. A nice bite but it doesn't linger like the palate crashers.
O - While it didn't wow me out of the gate, the subtle complexity grew on me. I like the hybridized British-American thing going on here. A very nice drink with some great craft and critical thinking begin it. Try it while it's hanging around the Emerald City.
