on-tap @ Beer Junction
I'm afraid I have to crash this bandwagon - not a "bad" IPA but Schooner Exact hop profiles just really don't do the job for me - heavier than it should be with metallic notes that drive my palate crazy. There are some big sugary citrus notes - simcoe and mosaic hops were used and that's pretty evident.
Happy anniversary to the Beer Junction - just can't get into these rough Schooner Exact IPA's

Pours a hazy copper color w/ a big sudsy head that leaves behind great lacing.
Aroma is a big punch of clean citrus and pine, juicy tropical goodness.
Taste follows nose. Pale and crystal malts, big resinous hops and a strong, clean, bitter finish.
Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and slick. Bitterness lingers on the palate.
Overall a worthy, enjoyable, well crafted beer. About as good as it gets.

A - straw colored with moderate head
S - hops a plenty, picking up some alcohol on the nose as it warms
t - this is where i was stunned into the hoppy glory of simcoe and mosaic: floral, piny, earthy. not sure how to describe it other than a perfect mix resulting in a crisp flavor, not overly bitter, a very well-constructed double IPA
m - ample carbonation make this easy drinking as the flavors coat my mouth
o - a real winner, dry and refreshing on this 90s+ hot summer day at Beer Junction. never had anything from schooner exact, and wasn't floored by their reputation, but they came through for Beer Junction. fantastic beer that i'd certainly drink again, but know that i never will. honestly holds its own with vermont's finest (my green mountain mainstays)
