I had a pint of Malt and Vine V at the shop on 8/9/2012.
Appearance: M&V5 is a semi-foggy light orange with a thin white head.
Smell: The aroma is on the topical fruit and bright botanicals side of the IPA spectrum. There are very present notes of grapefruit, grass, citrus, pine, and caramel.
Taste: The taste closely follows the aroma. This beer is more malty than most DIPAs and the hop character is less overt than I thought it would be.
Mouthfeel: M&V5 is a light/medium bodied beer with slightly less carbonation than the average DIPA.
Overall: This is a solid DIPA but I definitely favor Black Raven's other offerings in the style--BeakTweaker, Trickster, and the outstanding Wisdom Seeker.

Bottle opened up on 6.8.12.
A - Pours a nearly clear, but darker orange with an off-white fluffy head. Good retention.
S - Pretty piney, with some grassiness.
T - Sweet carmel, oranges and some pine in the finish.
D - Good carbonation with a medium body.
O - Nice and well balanced. Carmel, citrus and pine, fine anytime in my book.
