Alright, got given this one by a mate around 6 months ago. Giving it a try now. Says it's a 10% Imperial stout aged in fortified wine barrels for 10 months as a 10 year anniversary thing. 750ml bottle, with a crown seal. Can't find any information about a brewed date. Poured into a tulip at room temperature.
Look: Pours a dark black, with about 2cm of fluffy coffee coloured head. The foam hangs in there for quite a while, eventually dropping down to next to nothing. Leaves some sticky lacing on the side of the glass. Looks pretty good.
Smell: It's pretty reserved here. A little bit of chocolate, possibly some espresso and (at a stretch) raisin and tobacco. But I'm sniffing and sniffing at this and just am not getting much at all.
Taste: Little fruity to begin with, raisin again, possibly some blackberry. Some licorice and espresso coffee come through next. Port wineish aftertaste. Also something in there a little acidic that I cannot place. There is a little bit of heat as well from the alcohol. Bitterness comes through, but isn't very strong.
Feel: Mid-bodied, a little too light for a 10% stout I think. Quite drying at the end.
Overall: Good moments, but I dunno. Feels just a little rough for mine.
