750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Bottle # 91 of 124.

Appearance - Hazy clear golden red body. Medium chunky white head.

Smell - Fruity. Light currant aroma. Sweet apples. Kinda yogurty.

Taste - Sweet, but the grain of the saison comes through first. Currant quickly takes over and the apple sweetness dominates it all in the finish. A little bit of oak and a bit of oxidation in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Sweet. Medium low carbonation.

Overall - It's interesting. A little sweet for my tastes, but I guess that's to be expected with the cider.

Huge thanks to Alan for sharing this crazy beer.

Pours a very cloudy dark golden orange / chestnut brown color with apricot edges and a half finger off-white head that quickly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind.

Crazy complex aroma with musty funk, damp wood, sweet light fruits, boozy spirit and lactic cheesiness. The nose on this beer is unlike anything I've had before. Musty bugs, wet grass, hay and barnyard along with light fruit, cider, apple and strawberry and cream. Somewhat floral with rose petals and a touch of honey. So weird but smells excellent.

On the lighter end of medium body with a flavor profile that kind of tastes like barrel aged apple cider. Lots of sweet apple and autumnal spice flavor along with some dry toasted oak/toothpick and subtle spirit. I'm picking up some apple brandy but not much of a bourbon presence. The floral character from the nose is muted but shows up toward the finish. Lots of sweet apple and other light fruit notes with oak barrel and funky bugs. Nice dryness but not too overpowering. Complex with a great balance of unique flavors. The apple cider character is pretty strong but it's nicely complimented by the other notes. This is a great beer that's truly unique. Unlike anything I've ever tried before.

Bottle # 64 of 124 opened on 9.22.13

A - Pours a cloudy orange with a pink tint, the head is tan-pink and fizzes down to a small film.

S - Currants and floral tones dominate.

T - Ciderish with a currant base, the some rose, the floral takes over the finish.

D - Lower carbonation with a medium body.

O - Cider base with some strong spice and floral flavors that somehow works.
