Side Line Saison is a dry hopped beer using a light but flavorful blend of pils, pale, and caramel malts along with some raw Oregon grown triticale. The beer was fermented in our open tanks with the house blend of yeasts and shows a historic edge without being overly bitter or aromatic. It brings the hops from the side line, employing Crystal, two distinct lots of Santiam, and an experimental variety.

another special beer from upright, on tap at the brewery. they were all amazing here, and for all the saisons out there, this is very unique. the hops profile on it is very distinct, no clue what they use in terms of varietals, but its something new to me, sort of in the old world grassy limey realm, but different than anything i am used to. the grain base is equally compelling, maybe some rye in here, unless i am mistaking something in the hops for rye spice, its there to me. maybe not much wheat, i get pils malt way in front of any pale wheat that might be here. the yeasts are fun too, maybe a little brett, but more of a rustic farmhouse strain that brings a little white wine and hay to this. very light and drinkable while being extremely dynamic, hard to do, its also very distinct, apart from their other saisons and any on the market that i am aware of. this almost reminds me of that train to mars french saison from get radical or whatever they called themselves, it has a similar hop meets grain element, old worldy, dry, bubbly, and infinitely drinkable. elite level stuff here, but they all were at upright.
