Green Hour is a fresh hop saison that has the distinction of incorporating hops from the first and final days of harvest. It started with well over 100 pounds of fuggles picked up just hours after harvest began, going in on the hot side of the brewday on August 17th. The beer was then open fermented with a flavorful French saison yeast and cold conditioned until September 14th, when we added Liberty hops from the very tail end of harvest. Both varieties play well with the fruity and spicy yeast, yielding an exciting beer with an extra dry finish.

Growler from ABV.
A glowing orange with a large, white head that falls off to a ring leaving little lacing, this looks solid. This has got to be among the spicier, more assertive saisons that Upright have brewed - bright and spicy with white pepper, grains of paradise, clove, a touch of bubblegum along with a nice, grainy, mildly wheat-like note. Some honey is also present. Hop character is mild, earthy and with the fresh hop character (wet, earthy, mildly spicy) dominated by the yeast. Moderately fruity as well with a touch of grape. The palate opens bright with a blend of spices - grains of paradise, a definite white pepper note, a floral sweetness comprising of a little jasmine and some bubblegum. Hop bitterness is mild, though there is some tea-like tannic bitterness present. Hop flavor is mild, with an earthy note present. Drying on the finish with a lingering and aggressive spicy, yeasty flavor, this beer is light in body and moderately carbonated. I really don't get a whole lot of FH character on the palate, but apart from the spicy bitterness, this beer is pretty spectacular.
