Collaboration with Fortside Brewing Company
Batch 1000 Ale is a collaboration with Fortside and inspired by historic American craft brewing. Made with Mainstem Munich wheat malt grown in Walla Walla, northern brewer hops, and open fermented with Czech lager yeast at an elevated temperature, the B1000 is full of flavor. This is one of two naturally conditioned kegs we produced, using a one-off hoppy lager as the krausen beer, yielding an extra drinkable yet complex brew.

Crowler from the source. I'm not sure what to call this, so American lager will do.
A clear copper with a dense, off-white head with excellent retention and lacing this looks great. The nose has a delicate grainy sweetness, rather raw and wheat like, along with a moderately fruity hop character. Citrus with candied orange peel and a little peach are present. Delicately spicy as well. The palate opens with a bready sweetness with a dep, rich, caramelized sweetness that's light and limber, pairing nicely with the fruity hops. Where the krausening is especially apparent is the mouthfeel, where this beer is simultaneously light, creamy, airy and full, a typically impossible combination. Warming this to cellar temp makes the flavors and balance shine. Drying, mildly bitter on the finish. Very tasty, though the alcohol is a little higher than ideal.
