The pint arrived at the table with two wild Emmett Hops flowers floating. Intrigued, I ate one (!) and the seeds were an astonishingly refreshing crunch, like a hemp seed only smaller and more delicate. Closer to a poppy seed sized hemp seed.
Light quickly dissipating head that left sticky fresh hop residue down the whole glass. Not so much laced as smeared down the inside of the glass. The smell was new, bright, clean, clear: very green tasting, as was the beer itself yellow/green rather than brown, murky, unfiltered. Mouthfeel was light and malts were almost absent. This would be a great summer beer, but the hops are ripe now. Luckily(?) it was 90 degrees in Boise, so it worked great. Grass, wheat stalk, sweet clover all came through in this earthy, mild fresh brew. Hugely drinkable; if I can get a cheap flight this time next year, I'm heading to the Salmon River Brewery!
