Pours an amber color with a thinnish light tan head, sticks around for awhile and even leaves a bit of a cap of bubbles on top, only a few small bits of lacing.

Smell is surprisingly hoppy, citrus notes hit first followed by a bit of pine, caramel malt backs it up.

Taste is exactly as the aroma, a meld of citrus pine and caramel malt, carbonation is pretty active yet lends a decent smoothness, body is medium, not too sticky or sweet, piney bitter aftertaste, not sure of the strength but there's only a slight hint of heat.

Overall, I'd say this is probably PBB's best beer to date, not sure when the "First Annual" homebrew contest went on, who participated and how the winnah was chosen, but it's an interesting concept. I wonder if they'll do it again for 2012.

Homebrew Contest winner. This beer will continue being brewed but the name will be changed at the end of the year. Poured from a bottle into a tumbler pint, the beer is a clear, vibrant, orange-auburn coloring with no significant head. Resiny, wet-hop nose with a roasted grain backbone. Flavors are roasted and rounded on a full body, with a green, cedar, and resiny hops blast at the end of the palate. The aftertaste is hoppy and bitter, with a slick, resiny, and lingering finish. Solid brew.

A home brew recipe bottled by the brewery.
In a pint glass the beer was an amber color with a medium-sized tan head. Minimal lace.

Peppery, citrus hop aroma. Sweet caramel malt.

Mostly grapefruit taste, a little bit of piney hops. Caramel malt background.

Fairly hoppy. To me it was reminiscent of Arrogant Bastard.
