This was in a 12 pack with the Light IPA, Blueberry and Summer varieties. It was by far the worst tasting of the bunch. It left an artificial strawberry taste in the back of my mouth. When my nephew knocked it over in the back yard while playing soccer I felt relieved and reached for the Light IPA which is actually a decent brew.

Had this beer on tap. Definitely more complex than the abita strawberry. Finishes smooth and feels like drinking strawberry shortcake. Wish I had more room to take some home.

I love this beer from wachusett! I've had it on tap from the brewery, in growlers, and in cans. It's always pleases. I don't know why everyone is giving it poor reviews. It's light and easy drinking with a subtle strawberry flavor. The strawberry white has become my favorite from wachusett, which is no easy feat as their blueberry was in the top spot for the last decade. Give it a try, you'll love it!

Another great fruity option from Wachusett. Great smell as soon as you open it and it reminds you of warmer weather... which I will take any way I can get after this Massachusetts winter!

Poured from a 12oz. can into a Shock Top Witbier glass.

The color is a cloudy yellow gold with a finger and a half of foamy white head and a thin layer of lacing left on the glass.

The smell is big strawberry that is dominating the first couple of whiffs of this beer. There is a wheaty aroma that does hide behind the fruit smell and comes out slightly here and there.

The taste is strawberry right up front and is present throughout the flavor of this beer. There is a wheat flavor that comes out along with a strawberry flavor still present. There is a slight hint of spicy hop toward the end accompanied but more strawberry flavor that is gone as soon as each sip is gone with no aftertaste.

The feel of this beer is a light bodied, is really easy drinking and makes for a great beer for warmer weather. There is little aftertaste so there is no lingering and it has a refreshing feel that cleanses the palate.

tap at tavern in the square Northborough.

Light fizzy head with strawberries in it, hazy lemony wheat color.

Nose grainy husky wheat, little doughy wheat too, straw and grain, with some yeasty wit like yeast coming through, as well as a decent strawberry, fresh strawberry.

Taste starts with a generic fruity flavor which eventually manifests into strawberry, a little strawberry syrup as well as fresh fruit. Through all that is plenty of wheat, grainy toasty, doughy, hay, etc, with a touch of a yeasty flavor in the background, and little Belgian esters. Finish is drier, little creamy wheat feel, lingering creamy toasty wheat, mild yeasty note, more strawberry, and a weird bitterness.

Mouth is med to lighter bod, lighter carb than a typical wheat beer.

Overall surprisingly not bad, nice wheat base, strawberries are added much better than I expected and don't come in like a fake fruit or overpower the beer either yet have a nice presence. I didn't think a strawberry wheat, esp from Wachusett, would be very good, but this was pretty decent and very enjoyable for a hot summer day.

Can from Bert's
Pours a hazy light straw color with a decent sized fluffy white head that persists for a while. Aromas of strawberry in spades. Sweet and a some tart strawberry aromas mixed with bits of lemon, yeast and earth. The flavor follows the aroma quite well, but the berry flavor it a bit more subdued. Medium to light body with a moderate level of carbonation. Tastes a bit like a strawberry soda mixed with a yeasty wheat beer. I could drink a few of these if pressed.

From the 12 fl. oz. can. Sampled on June 20, 2014.

The pour is a very light but very cloudy pale yellow exploding up to a big white foamy head that fades some but tends to stick around. It looks like it should so there are some points for that.

The aroma is of strawberries, roasted malts, light spice, strawberries, butter (not a good thing), light spice, yeast, strawberries, and a hint of lemon. Did I mention strawberries?

The body is fairly impressive with its above medium to near heavy texture.

Interestingly, while the strawberries present themselves loudly and front and center in the aroma they do seem a bit more muted in the taste. The flavor has more of the typical malt, butter, lemon,. and light spice notes of a witbier. Not as bad as some previous opinions suggest.

12oz can poured into a pint glass.

A: Dull golden color. Very cloudy. Strawberry seeds and particles hang in suspension. Foamy white head settles into nothing after a little while. Small dots of lacing.

S: Big whiff of strawberry purée is front and center. Wheaty, dough, and shortcake aromas underneath. Strawberry sauce. Basically comes across as liquid strawberry shortcake.

T: Strawberry sauce and strawberry purée up front. Doughy and wheaty tastes begin to take hold, but the strawberry sauce and purée flavors never go away. Yeast comes though just a bit too, very subtle peppery note. The faintest brush of vague hops. Wheaty and doughy finish with trailing strawberry juice.

M: Wheaty and frothy feel. Light bodied. Mild scrubbing carbonation.

O: For what it is, not bad. It actually has more substance and character than their Blueberry ale. The wit characteristics are there, and I like that it was left unfiltered. The main issue here is not the beer, but the label. It sends the wrong message. Stark black, white, and grey contrasts and the woman dropping the strawberry into her wet, waiting lips creates a sensual and lurid vibe. That might be ok for something marketed strictly for valentines day, but this should be a heavy focus for them during the summer, if not year round. Soft, bright, and playful colors would be more the way to go. They need to create more of a fun and summery feel. Nix the woman and her lips.

Appearance: 1 inch head, high carbonation, light gold in color, hazy

Smell: fresh strawberries, banana, coriander, and fresh clove

Taste: big dose of Belgian spices with strawberries at the end

Mouthfeel: sweet, light bodied and high carbonation

Overall: Really enjoyed this offering from Wachusett. I feel it is one of their better beers The strawberries shine through but never overpower the beer taste. I could have several especially as the weather gets warmer.

Could taste great were it not for the overwhelming taste of hot plastic. I would blame it on the can, but I drink blueberry all time time and have never had this issue. Not sure where that unpleasant flavor is coming from but it ruins an otherwise pleasant and refreshing beer. Too bad.

Sorry, I needed the can. There is nothing I can recommend about this beer. Nasty industrial taste. The wit might have been acceptable but the fruit notes just sunk it. It's neither a wit beer nor a fruit flavored beer - individually which I can accept and often enjoy. But the combination, and low ABV just makes this a non-starter. Maybe it's the can?

On-tap 1/12/2014 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub, in Pawtucket, RI served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light yellow color, with a large white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains a ton of strawberries as evident by the fact that I could smell them before I even picked up the glass. There’s also some Belgian yeast in there.

T: Despite the strong smell, the taste starts out with a Belgian yeast and wheat breadiness. The strawberry flavor quickly follows and is still strong. There’s also some spice flavor in the background. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, very mild kick, good representation of style, it’s a decent beer to drink for a while if you’re into the strawberry flavor.
