12oz can poured into a pint glass.
A: Red-orange color with good clarity. Rocky and bubbly beige head retains well. Clumpy lacing.
S: Sweet malty scents of candy shell and caramel. Slight woody and toffee hints too. Juicy berry esters. Hops add a touch of spiciness.
T: Chewy caramel is dominant. A touch nutty. Big berry esters. Spicy hops. A little woody. Drying finish with woody malt and hop oils.
M: Medium bodied. Full and a little chewy. Moderate carbonation.
O: it is what it is. Not a style that excites anyone anymore, we've come a long way since the 90's. That said it's still a serviceable red.

On-tap 6/29/2014 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub in Pawtucket, RI served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a coppery red color, with a large off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma is faint but contains caramelized malts, some fruit and a touch of hops.
T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of caramel, fruit and honey. Then a hearty but not too heavy malt character comes in. The hops presence is very mild but brings some balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.
M: Smooth and a little crisp but a bit watery, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
O: A little tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, it’s a mediocre beer overall but worth drinking for a while.

From the 12 fl. oz. can. Sampled on June 8, 2014.
It has a handsome looking brown color but not so much red although it leads up to a longer lasting beige head.
What I pick up on the nose are the toasted and roasted malts with toffee and caramel. Hops are downplayed.
The body is smooth and medium.
Lots of flavor in the taste from those roasted malts, toffee, and caramel and a slightly bitter finish. The sweetness prevails on this one.

Appearance: amber in color, 1/2 inch head, clear, high carbonation
Smell: toasted malt and small hops
Taste: sweet bread, toasted malt, light hops
Mouthfeel: light bodied, high carbonation, sweet with slight bitterness
Overall: A watery below average red ale that is bland compared to others in the style. It almost seems like there needs to be more body to this beer. Generally a fan of Wachusett offerings, but this was a miss for me. I did not finish this.

I've been a long time lurker here at beeradvocate, and after only seeing one other review for this beer it motivated me to sign up and start reviewing.
Wachusett is local to my area, and they have some beers such as Larry IPA that I think are greatly under appreciated. So when I saw the Revered Red cans popup at the local packie, I was excited to give it a try. The WAAF branding was a big warning sign (not that I dislike WAAF), but I love trying something new, and wanted to grab it while I could.
a: Pour into a glass, lots of fizz and bubbles what little head there is disappears rapidly which is disappointing. Nice cloudy amber color with a hint of red that would be typical of a red ale,. color is appealing.
s: Hardly any scent at all, faint scents of fruit and something chemical
t: sweet but not fruity. Malt, White sugar. Sweetness offset a little by a dry finish of burnt carmel. There is a strong mineral presence that is off-putting,. Some kind of artificial chemical flavoring that reminds me of cough drops.
m: Very light. heavily carbonated. At least if not more so than a Shipyard Pumpkinhead/Applehead.
o: I was very disappointed by this beer. Its not a red ale at all. I'm not going to be able to finish the six pack. I probably had higher expectations than I should have though given the way it was branded and marketed.

Well craft beer cans, but not expecting much from this beer as Wachusett has been meh lately, and WAAF has mostly a macro drinking rep.
Pours a lighter fizzy bubbly 1/2 finger head that fades fairly quickly, decent spotty lacing at least, very clear prachy-reddish amber color.
Nose is actually pretty bad, a very mild malt bill, hint of reddish amber malt, little fruity note, but then comes an obvious off note, little chemically paint thinner note, not great. The parts that are beer like are very light too.
Taste is mostly malt, grainy reddish malt, a little toffee and burnt sugar note, some crystal malts and maybe Special B or one of those candy like toffee malt notes, perhaps straight up caramelized sugar. At least the chemical is gone, but it has a little mineral note and perhaps a hint of sulfry like character. Hops, what hops?! Perhaps the slightest hint of a grassy hop note very very late on the character. Finish is dry and pretty much non-existant. Wait... I'm starting to get that mild acetelalyhyde like chemical flavor later on the taste too, so it's there as well.
Mouth is lighter bod, decent but lighter carb.
Overall, I had very low expectations for this beer, and yet somehow it smashed that! This was a pretty poor beer, even from Wachusett. Just sad that they would put out something like this, even for a WAAF thing. I'm sure the WAAF people love it too, oh wow it has some type of flavor, not Coors light.
