From the can, it pours a clear reddish amber (coppery?) with a modest, long lasting, off-white head.. In the nose, it is malty. In the mouth, it is the same, malty with caramel notes predominating (in a good way). It feels smooth and crisp. A nice one!

Pretty odd to see a BA beer with such a low abv, especially for a red ale, but here we go anyways. Also worth noting that this is the first beer I've drank from a teku glass, just picked one up and I'm excited to use it
Pours an opaque dark amber/copper with less than a finger of off white head that leaves a ring, very slight lacing
Sweet malty aromas, I pick up wheat, apple cider, some vanilla and a touch of peppery spice. Nothing to really indicate that this is barrel aged
Taste really is much of the same. I've never had the base beer, but I have to assume it tastes pretty similar to this. That being said, it's solid in flavor. Pretty bright apple character on the front before being washed over with warm caramel malt
The feel is probably the best part of this beer, and maybe that's where the barrel really shines through. Light medium bodied and damn smooth, finishes just short of dry, very crisp
Overall this one was really solid, coincidentally my first Irish red, though I can't imagine there's much distinguishing it from an American amber
