Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear deep amber color with a two-finger head of off-white foam. The head has fades rather fast leaving a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strongest of a bready and grainy smell mixed with a bit of caramel. Other harvest fruit smells of apple and pear are mixed in there as well, along with some hints of salt and a touch of toffee sweetness.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweet caramel and bready malt flavor mixed with a bit of doughiness and some light toffee and apple. Along with these flavors are notes of wheat and a bit of earthiness. As the taste advances some flavor of a floral nature and more bread and grain come to the tongue, all at the expense of some of the caramel and the dough. At the end there is a note of hay, mixing with the rest and producing a moderately malty, not too sweet, taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium in thickness and creaminess with a slightly more effervescent carbonation level.
Overall – A decent Oktoberfest overall, but nothing to really go out of your way to obtain.
